…and warlocks.
People who hear about dancing witches generally have one of three reactions:
- That’s silly (stupid, ridiculous)
- Ooh, I want to watch! Where are they?
- Wow, that sounds like fun. May I please join?
So, what happens when you join Las Brujas?
Is there an initiation or is an oath to swear? No, you simply show up at a practice, learn the dances, and stay for Happy Hour.
What do I wear?
You design your own costume in your own image. You may start by shopping at a resale show or ordering something online. Each witch and warlock decides what their witch looks like. The general guidelines:
- Choose any color and style.
- Be sure it’s G-Rated.
- Makeup is optional and we can help.
- No Dia de los Muertos designs, please. (We work around the local traditions and choose our dates carefully.)

Each year you dance with las Brujas, you receive a pin for your name badge. You can tell how experienced each witch is by checking his or her pins.
Let’s talk seriously.
Well, we don’t take much seriously. This is a fun-loving group who love to laugh. Some of us bring candy for children (or adults who are children at heart). We don’t do spells, but if you want to bless your house, go ahead. There may be some sage lying around somewhere.
We are guests in Mexico.
We don’t compete with local traditions. The Mexican people are fun-loving and we always get great reactions from our appearances. We pose for photos with families and encourage people to join in with our open dances. We choose our dates carefully around traditional holidays.
Our current dances:
Schüttel deinen Speck (Shake your bacon) – the original dance performed by the German with dancers, Wolfshager Hexenbrut.
Witchy Woman – performed by the Eagles. This is an original dance by our lead dancers.
Monster Mash – this is a free dance where the audience may join in. Those of us of a certain age do those 60s dances that we grew up with: Swim, Boogaloo, Pony, Twist, Mashed Potato, Watusi, Jerk…or walk around like Frankenstein or Dracula.
Purple People Eater – again, a free dance with no structured moves. We have little brooms for children to join in!
NEW! – Jingle Bell Rock – the same steps as the German Witches Dance, but with a merry vibe.
We would love to have you join us! ¡Nos encantaría que te unas a nosotros!
Come to our first rehearsal of the 2026 to learn more.
